Commitment to Excellence
The two biggest talents God has given me are my music and athleticism. I have been drumming since birth starting on my grandparent’s tea set with chopsticks. I participated in band during my elementary and high school years. I enjoy playing the drums on chapel worship teams and other church-related bands.
I started playing sports when I was four years old for the local tee-ball team. Through the years, I have played football, basketball, baseball, soccer and track. I was a four- letter athlete in high school. In playing all of these sports, God has used me to be a witness to others through my leadership and sportsmanship.
When I was a freshman in high school, I attended a private Christian school called Evangelical Christian Academy. ECA did not have a football program so I played at a large public high school. The atmosphere was very different than what I was used to. Through my play and leadership on our freshman team, I had the opportunity to pray with our team before and after games. It was great to be a part of a public school football team that would pray for our games. God put the urge on my heart to be a witness to all, on and off the playing field. I have learned over the years to give God the glory in everything that I say and do. I have played baseball at Evangel University, and look forward to coming back in the fall and using the gifts God has blessed me with once again.
fI thank all who have helped shape me into the athlete and Christian I am today. I couldn’t have accomplished all that I have if it weren’t for them. So to all who read this, I encourage you to give God the glory He deserves in everything you do!
“The quality of a man’s life is in direct proportion to his commitment to excellence.” “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.” 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 – Tom Landry
